Are there reduced tickets to the Acropolis?

Yes, the Acropolis offers various opportunities for free and reduced admissions. These initiatives make visiting one of Greece's most iconic landmarks more accessible to a diverse group of visitors throughout the year.

There are specific days in which the visit to the Acropolis is free, and from the 1st of November to the 31st of March it offers reduced prices to everybody. Plus there are several categories that can benefit from reductions and free entries. Read further down for a comprehensive list.

Free tickets for children can be booked online alongside regular tickets, while free tickets for any other category must be obtained directly at the ticket booths on the day of the visit.

Please note: every reduction and free entry has to be supported by appropriate documentation (most often ID card or passport, or disability certificate. In addition to the ones listed below, there are more categories entitled to free entry for particular categories of Greek citizens. Check out the full official list for more information.

Reduced tickets

Winter visits

First of all, reduced tickets are available for everyone from the 1st of November to the 31st of March, for the winter season.

The reduction is only valid for individual tickets, there are no discounts available for the Acropolis Pass, even in winter, but the reduction is in effect in all the monuments included in the pass.

Age categories

Children and young people aged between 6 and 25 years, from non-European Union countries and senior citizens over 65 from Greece or other EU member-states and the European Economic Area.

School visits

Parents accompanying primary education schools visits from EU member-states and the European Economic Area and escorting teachers of educational visits of schools and institutions of primary, secondary and tertiary education from non European Union countries.

Free entry

Age categories

Children and young people up to the age of 25, from EU member-states and children up to the age of 5, from non-European Union countries. Persons over 25 years, being in secondary education and in vocational schools from EU member-states.

School visits

Escorting teachers during educational visits of schools and institutions of primary, secondary and tertiary education from EU member-states.

People with disabilities

Persons with disabilities and one escort (only in the case of 67% disability), irrespective of the country of origin, upon presentation of their ID card or passport and Disability Certificate.

Members of specific organizations

Free entry is granted to journalists, members of ICOM and ICOMOS, licensed scientists, members of specific Greek organizations and also refugees.
